Anne Marie Clarke graduated from Sweet Briar College in 2003
with a B.S. in Environmental Science. She began working with the
District in November of 2003 as the Amherst Watershed
Coordinator. She coordinates watershed assessments within the
drinking water supply areas for the town and county of Amherst.
She uses GPS technology to record pollution impairments while
wading streams and GIS maps to pinpoint impacts to the drinking
water supply. She is also responsible for the administration of
the watershed protection ordinance, internships, monitoring,
educational programs, Willows for LIFE tree planting program and
working with landowners. She believes that one of the most
important aspects of her job is not only to find pollution
sources in the watershed but to re-connect landowners with their
natural resources and assist them by finding conservation
programs that will make their property more productive as well
as protect our drinking water supply at the source.
