Jim is 2003 graduate of Virginia
Tech with a B.S. in Forestry- Environmental Resource Management with a minor
in Watershed Management. He worked for the Virginia Department of Forestry
as an Area Forester in Campbell County for 7 years. In August 2011, Jim
joined the Robert E. Lee Soil and Water Conservation District as an
Agriculture BMP Conservation Specialist.
Jim’s duties
and responsibilities include:
· Administer
the Virginia Agricultural Best Management Practices cost share program for
the Robert E. Lee Soil and Water Conservation District
· Inform
land users of available federal, state, and local agricultural BMP cost
share programs
· Provide
technical assistance for conservation practices to producers and operators
of agriculture operations
·
Provide assistance to Natural Resource
Conservation Service (NRCS) staff with federal cost share programs e.g. CRP,
CREP, EQIP, WHIP, GRP
· Coordinate
annual inspection and maintenance of watershed dams owned and operated by
Robert E. Lee Soil and Water Conservation District
He lives near
Concord in Appomattox County with his wife Missy and their two children. He
enjoys fly fishing and other outdoor past times like hiking and camping. Jim
is also an Eagle Boy Scout as well as a Tree Farm Inspector with the
American Tree Farm System. |
