Kent White is a native of
Southside Virginia and attributes his early exposure to rural life as the
major reason for becoming involved in natural resources conservation. He
received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Virginia Tech and his
Master’s in Public Administration from the same. Kent currently serves
as Senior Planner for the City of Lynchburg’s Department of Community
Planning & Development; his primary job responsibilities include reviewing
development plans to ensure their compliance with the requirements of
various departments. Prior to his tenure as Senior Planner, Kent served as
both Conservation Specialist for the Robert E. Lee SWCD and Environmental
Planner for the City where his main interests included erosion impacts,
storm water mitigation and floodplain management. Mr. White was appointed
as an Associate to Lynchburg College’s School of Sciences in 1998 and has
been a member of the Greater Lynchburg Environmental Network’s Steering
Committee since 2003.
