Erosion & Sediment Control

The Robert E. Lee Soil and Water Conservation District assists it’s localities in regulating and implementing Virginia’s Erosion & Sediment Control Program. The District provides plan review services for Amherst and Appomattox Counties, and inspection services for the City of Lynchburg. All localities work cooperatively on enforcing and implementing the erosion and sediment control law and plans.

Over the past year, each localities erosion & sediment control staff, including Bedford County, have meet regularly to discuss issues and ways of making each respective program more unified and consistent within the region. From this the Central Virginia Erosion & Sediment Control Committee was formed. This committee has made strides in making plan review more standard and will be dealing with other issues. The Committee has held public meetings inviting the engineering and development/construction community to get input.
